In
Hindu belief, the male element is order, white, solid, but inert without
the female energy to act as a catalyst. The female element is wild,
dangerous, powerful, red, like pure electricity or energy (Sakti). Male
and female need each other to keep each other in balance. The woman needs
the man to direct her and reign her in, the man needs a woman to animate
him and give him energy. Goddesses like Durga and Kali are considered
dangerous because they are not held down by any man.

Durga is a powerful
warrior goddess, who was created when all the male gods were fighting a
demon and could not kill it. so, they combined all of their elements and
came up with Durga, who smacked the demon all over the place. She holds in
her eight arms the weapons of all the gods that combined to create her.
